While Hillary has a better health care plan(for now anyway), I always thought that most Edwards supporters would go with Obama. After all, if you were going to go with Hillary, you would have done so already. Part of the reason people picked Edwards or Obama was because they wanted an alternative to Hillary.

No. They hounded him throughout the interview to say how he voted, and then when it slipped out, they completely ignored it.

I find the whole thing pretty disturbing. This had to have been a pretty scripted appearance and they just ignored when he went off-script and made news. That makes the “journalists” present for this interview absolutely incompetent in my view.

I was very happy with the comments Edwards made that are aimed at unifying the party and how he truly believes that Hillary wants what is best for the country and isn’t just carrying on the campaign for her own ends. That message gets somewhat dimmed for me because he delivered it in what turns out to be such a staged event rather than a true interview.

My position(and I’m sticking with it) is that people do NOT need insurance..they need healthcare.

And Edwards as much as admitted earlier in the interview that he would endorse the candidate for whom he had voted.

In regards the Edwards endorsement today. I do hope that he is afforded many and good opportunities to have genuine influence on obama and the party issues. He can go to areas of poverty and bring a message, and eventually bucks, to a whole lot of American’s in desperate need. And yes, I would like to see him in the cabinet.

a private provider is trying to turn profit, when the cost of a proceedure is more then the the fees they need to deny that proceedure, unless they have a negative return on total income they will and should deny that claim

the government gets positive return from most people and they need to return those back to productivity, it benefits the productivity of the individual, the their family and friends and the revenue the government enjoys because of the health of these assets

that’s the financial reason to go single payer through the government

One of the other big pluses I see to single payer is portability. I think that is a big factor! I hated looking for a new doctor every year because the teaser rates had increased to the employer so much that they had to shop for better teaser rates for insurance for their employees. I hated the idea that changing jobs meant changing doctors. Our system is broken and the only way to fix it is to stop switching rather than fighting. Time to fight!

I’ll take her over Joe Scabrous any day.

That was an interesting interview. It made me miss Edwards again. Although he was very gracious and complementary to both candidates, his own reasons for exiting the process are identical to those of all of us who feel this primary has gone on too long and can only become more destructive.

What I’ve never understood is the Goopers’ insistence on this “it’s Socialism” thing. Anyone in business understands “investing in productive capacity”. People who are healthy and well are a damned site more productive and on the job than people who are not. Frank Schaeffer here. As the proud father of a former US Marine who served in Afghanistan and Iraq I’m asking you for a favor: Please tell Congress to stop President Bush, the Pentagon’s brass and Senator McCain from sticking it to our troops.

Senator Webb has introduced legislation to increase benefits in a new GI Bill. The Webb bill would cover the full tuition at a state school in the state in which the veteran would be enrolled and has other generous provisions.

The House of Representatives is set to vote on a World War II-style GI Bill for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. The 21st Century GI Bill (S.22/H.R.5740) was introduced in Congress by some of the Senate’s combat veterans, including Senators Webb and Chuck Hagel. This bill has bipartisan support of 57 Senators and 278 Representatives (including the backing of Senators Obama and Clinton) and the endorsement of the American Legion to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Bush administration opposes the new GI bill because the President says it’s too generous and would “undermine retention” of troops, who Bush is counting on to fight on and on in Iraq as the war goes into its sixth year. Senator McCain says he will follow the Pentagon’s lead.

The Pentagon–the same people that sent men and women (including my son) into battle underequipped and without enough body armor–wants to limit soldier’s benefits in order to help “retain” troops. In other words the Pentagon, the President and John McCain want to keep our men and women in uniform with fewer options (such as college) so they’ll stay in the military and “re-up.”

Senator McCain’s office says that McCain is only “following the Pentagon’s lead.” Is that leadership? McCain is actively trying to undermine the generous bill. He has offered legislation with much lower benefits and almost no cosponsors.

As the father of a Marine who served with honor in Bush’s wars I am a grateful and loyal supporter of our men and women in uniform–something anyone who has read my books “Keeping Faith-A Father-Son Story About Love and the United States Marine Corps,” and “Faith Of Our Sons-A Father’s Wartime Diary,” and my novel about the USMC “Baby Jack,” will know. It is because of my gratitude to our troops and my respect for them that I’m so disgusted by the Bush administration’s “thank you” to our troops that amounts to a slap in the face.

I am also disgusted by the cynical leaders in the Pentagon who don’t want to make benefits “too attractive” lest some young men or women forgo a fourth or fifth or sixth tour in Iraq and decide to go to college instead. (Speaking as military parent I can tell you that Bush, McCain and the Pentagon brass have it wrong. A good educational benefits incentive would be a great recruiting tool. It also is the right moral thing to do for our troops.)

When compared to the GI Bill that was offered to returning vets from World War Two the funding for education offered to our troops today is a joke. The GI Bill of Rights made law by Roosevelt, paid the full tuition of any veteran’s education. It was a great investment that also rebuilt the nation. It’s time for a new real GI Bill.

Where is McCain’s actual commitment to our men and women where it counts? Where is Bush when more than a photo-op is needed? Where is the solidarity that the generals in charge of recruiting should have with their enlisted men and women?

Shame on Senator McCain. Shame on President Bush. Shame on the college-educated military officers in charge of recruiting who want to keep their enlisted men and women down in order to “retain” them for an endless war.

Our honor as Americans is on the line. Our president, McCain and our military leaders can’t be allowed to betray our soldiers.

OT Crude oil is trading at around $125/bbl, this despite the fact that the US supply of crude oil increased by a very healthy 5.7 million bbls last week (putting it squarely at the midpoint of its average range). It increasingly irritates me when people point to supply/demand issues controlling price. If this were true, crude should be dipping in price this week but the reverse is happening. The real story continues to be the hedge fund driven play pushing money into oil and other commodities when the dollar weakens and pushing it out when the dollar shows any strength.

OT but did anyone listen to the Dianne Rheam show this a.m.? They had several “Democrats” call in to say they could not support Obama. One because of Rev. Wrights “anti-American radical” comments and the other because they could never vote for Obama because of his wife. The caller wanted someone that would bring “dignity” to the role of 1st Lady. I’m thinking they were Republican trolls spreading their lies, fears and misinformation.

I keep making this point;

There were several callers to C-span’s Washington Journal parroting the same tripe. I initially had the same suspicions as you, but I wonder if some of the callers aren’t the real deal. There are a lot of people that are serious about the experience thing, although history demonstrates that has not been a reliable predictor of Presidential performance.

It could have been during the first part, after discussing that he voted for the person he would endorse, but wouldn’t reveal it, he said, “Barrack Obama doesn’t need my help.”

More likely, it was toward the end when it sounded like he said, “I just voted for him…” It possible he said something like, “I just voted for ‘em…” Those of us raised in the south occasionally would say “em” for “them,” if we didn’t want to reveal the gender.

Now, on the other foot:

We, the people, could declare that, henceforth, America was no longer a ‘Representative’ Democracy, but rather, a ‘Participatory’ Democracy, declare ourselves to ALL be the ‘Gummint’ and direct said Gummint to treat us all as ‘equal’ delegates and therby gain the exact same ‘coverage’ now enjoyed by the …um … ’select’ few.

But, even though WE is the Gummint, already … (”of the … for the … and by the …”) most folks would object … I suspect …

That objection based not on receiving ‘Coverage’, but rather on the amount of work necessary to being a truly responsible ‘participant’.

A caller from Palm Springs (very red, Sonny Bono country) told Ed Schultz Show to say she was for HRC but is switching to McCain because of the way Dems are so “disorganized” and can’t run a decent campaign. Ed repeated back what she said in disbelief, and she said “oh, no that’s not what I said”.

Ed goes on to say, McCain is so very different in the positions and you’re going to vote for him because the dems are disorganized? You’re going to vote for someone who wants to continue the war in Iraq because you don’t think Obama can win? What kind of thinking is that?

She just hummed along and he took another caller. It sounded very suspicious. The next caller said she didn’t know what she was talking about. It made no sense and it sounded totally fake.

I hope John fights to clear the record on this white vote issue. He won his Senate race with only 41% of the white vote. Let’s see him fight that..

Pennsylvania - an all Democratic voters state, in fact, proved the polar opposite in comparison to Iowa and North Carolina.

Thankfully, Howard Dean and Obama have crashed down every barrier the insiders of the party like Emanuel and Schumer have put up, where they used fearmongering to cram candidates we didn’t want down our throats and forcing votes Democrats normally would never make.

Hillary can wait till Hell freezes over or another category 5 hurricane to blow Obama away - we’re still NOT GOING TO GIVE IT TO HER!! This is part of an argument on why that’s the case, that many voters are having about this election at Haaretz that I participated in:
