Interesting. The above is what Howard Wolfson, one of Sen. Clinton's chief advisors, seemed to be saying on "Fox News Sunday" yesterday in a throw away line of sorts:
"This isn't about debt retirement or about the veep," he said.
I called two sources today with an intimate knowledge of Camp Clinton--one a super-delegate--and both had very different opinions. Both confirmed to me that they were sure Hillary Clinton would accept the number two slot in a heartbeat--and that was one of the likely reasons why she was still in this race, to make herself indispensable.
So I guess the question is, who do you believe?

I believe me! Both camps would cheerfully lie on this subject and not feel the least embarassed.
I think that the idea of a Hillary VP slot is a complete non-starter. There’s hard feelings between the camps from the top to the bottom. Obama won’t want to be overshadowed by a pair of Clintons and I doubt either of them would consent to be in the background. I think Hillary might end up being “Cheney” to Obama.
Of course, she MIGHT get so b***hy about losing that she goes for the #2 spot on McBush’s ticket.
Boxturtle (That would certainly upset Holy Joe, at least)
BoxTurtle hit it right on the nose. Obama would have to be a fool to put HRC on the ticket.
There is one clear path for Hillary Racist Clinton to become Veep and I welcome it and expect Jeralyn Merritt and all the delusional Clintonites will work for this.
Clinton and her husband who has evolved into a clown have been campaigning hard for McCain in her shittrain of a Presidential campaign.
There is room for her in that picture of McCain kissing George Bush. She can work her way into the hug and we’d be delighted to run against Hillary as VP candidate on McCain’s ticket.
Go Hillary Girl. Go straight to the arms of McCain and Bush. You’re terrifically like them. You’ve pissed on Obama saying McCain is qualified and Obama is not several times.
Hillary is deader than Nicolle Ritchie, Paris Hilton, or Amy Winehouse as a possible runinng mate for Obama. It will never happen.
Obama has gained yet another superdelegate, Hawaii Sen. Daniel Akaka. Akaka is the second Hawaii superdelegate to announce today and the third superdelegate overall to go to Obama since this morning.
Idaho Democratic Party Chairman Keith Roark will endorse a presidential candidate some time after 2 p.m. ET. Obama won the state overwhelmingly, 80%-17%.
Obama has now picked up 22 superdelegates since last Tuesday’s contests in North Carolina and Indiana. Clinton has picked up 1.5.
*** UPDATE *** Roark is officially now for Obama, the Obama campaign confirms. Roark is the fourth today for the Illinois senator.
The NBC NEWS delegate counts:
PLEDGED: Obama 1,590, Clinton 1,426
SUPERS: Obama 279, Clinton 276.5
TOTAL: Obama 1,869, Clinton 1,702.5
