Login HereEmily's List, to the chagrin of many Democrats, is sticking with Hillary Clinton. That is most surely their right. But, today, once NARAL endorsed Barack Obama and sent out a press release about it, the reaction of Emily's List is a bit puzzling:
Here is what NARAL had to say:
We have been so fortunate to have two fully pro-choice candidates running for the Democratic nomination, and we praised both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama for their leadership in standing up for women's reproductive rights. But only one candidate can advance to the general election.
NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC is making our endorsement now because every day that passes, Sen. McCain gets a free ride on the issue of choice. That free ride ends today.
Too many voters think that McCain is a moderate. Can someone who's voted anti-choice 125 times out of 130 opportunities on abortion and other reproductive-rights issues be a moderate?
It's time to put that myth to rest. To win in November, NARAL Pro-Choice America will educate swing voters who can tip this election: Republican and Indepdendent women. And we cannot let one more day go by without comparing Sen. Obama's fully pro-choice record to Sen. McCain's anti-choice record.
On one hand, we have Sen. Obama—who has been a fully pro-choice ally from day one and whom women can trust.
And on the other hand, we have Sen. John McCain—who has gone even further than George W. Bush in his anti-choice rhetoric by directly calling for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.
I believe that Sen. Obama is the leader who can unify our country behind commonsense ways to prevent unintended pregnancy.
We need you to be a part of our work to defeat Sen. McCain and elect Sen. Obama.
Nothing insulting in there about Sen. Clinton, no? Yet, Emily's List seems to have taken offense:
I think it is tremendously disrespectful to Sen. Clinton - who held up the nomination of a FDA commissioner in order to force approval of Plan B and who spoke so eloquently during the Supreme Court nomination about the importance of protecting Roe vs. Wade - to not give her the courtesy to finish the final three weeks of the primary process. It certainly must be disconcerting for elected leaders who stand up for reproductive rights and expect the choice community will stand with them.
Disrespectful? Not sure I get that. Emily's List chose their candidate and now NARAL has chosen theirs. Who cares what the calculation was/is as to why to do so. Couldn't NARAL ask Emily's List why they thought Obama shouldn't have "the courtesy to finish" the primary process before they endorsed?

yeah. such a completely unreasonable presumption, too, considering the short, practically non-existent list of easily-overcome obstacles between HRC and the nomination.
And when was the last time any bigtime endorser waited out the ENTIRE primary cycle to endorse?
Hello???? BO and HRC surrogates???? Please get it through your hard, pointy heads that when someone endorses or praises the “other” candidate it’s not automatically a full-on body-slam diss of yours. Sheesh.

Hillary Racist Clinton is a pathetic carcass that needs to be cleaned out and buried.
She and her husband belong in prison for many selfish crimes, not the least is abandning their dog –leaving a Lab in the front yard on a busy street–when they could have afforded to build him a mansion to put him in.
Let Clinton run where she belongs as McCain’s running mate and announce that they’ll make Buchanan their Secretary of State.
