Now that is some real straight talk.
Davis made the prediction on Bloomberg TV, that unless Republicans in the House and McCain distance themselves from Bush, they will lose 20-25 seats (if the election were held today) and McCain will go down by 20 points.
The latter point is accurate. As for the former, when Democrats are winning +10 GOP districts in Mississippi by 8 points, 20-25 seats would be a miracle for his party. If things don't improve for his party and they are too closely tied to Bush, 50-60 seats might be somewhat more accurate.

Hi Cliff. I’d love to see them try to distance themselves from Bush, and would really love to see them lose many, many, many seats.
The Pukes are sure slow about figuring this out. I’d say they missed the “boat” and now find themselves on the Titanic.
that’s some courageous talk coming from a guy who’s retiring…that’s like Rosie O’Donnell coming out of the closet after leaving her TV show. nothing to lose by stating the obvious now!
Great point dosido. Just because he is right doesn’t mean he isn’t at least somewhat responsible.
Oh and hi to you too Betsy!
Hey Cliff! Back from my evening plans.
Nice to see that he’s running as anything but a Republican. No doubt he’ll be appearing at the Democratic Convention in Denver to show his solidarity.

The Republicans are in huge trouble…they can’t attract social conservatives because they didn’t actually succeed when they had the power, and one can only drive fear into the evangelical community for so long. Many evangelicals are wondering if they’ve lost their souls by tying up to the Republican war party. They are finally retreating to a view of personal responsibility and ethics taught within their families…rather than imposed on others. Of course, that’s a position espoused by liberals, as well.
They could still represent the Party of the wealthy…but that’s likely to increasing piss-off Middle Class and Poor voters in a retracting economy. There’s no evidence, however miniscule, of the necessary social mobility to become wealthy for the Conservative philosophy to assert some success…or even promissary success.
They can try to play up “guns” but nobody believes in an unlimited and unrestricted “Second Amendment” interpretation is socially acceptable anymore. Only extremists think you should be able to carry automatic weapons into Virginia Tech…or that depressed teens with a grudge or girlfriend problem should be able to buy a gun. DO THEY? Well maybe the Republican Party and the NRA leadership does…
$4 a gallon gas…and we’ll have Limbaugh claiming that it’s not all that much “when measured against inflation” Bwaghahahaha….INFLATION is their “excuse” when it’s actually just more and more money we have to spend in places BESIDES the soaring price of gasoline!
LOL! These guys have to suggest that having high inflation is “good”…when in fact
The Tom Davis and Doan show @ HORC was unforgettable fraud.
Upside–Davis retires from the Virginia 11th after 14 dispicable years.
Downside–he moves on to take his place @ K-Street of the Lost Arc the Sequel.
despicable as well.
