Word is that John McCain has three potentials coming to AZ (which house do you think?--so many choices) to meet with him: Governor Charlie Crist of Florida, Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Mitt Romney.
I will say this right now. It will be Romney in the end. Romney is beloved by the corporate wing of the party, that doesn't like McCain much, and he has made huge inroads into the religious right by selling out every core belief, like when he was "to the left of Teddy Kennedy on gay rights" and staunchly "in favor or Roe V. Wade. That was the old Romney. Add in the good hair, handsome family, youngish looks and willingness to spend his own fortune, which McCain needs, and you've got a winner!
Jindal is like 16 years old and could technically be McCain's grandson (actually, he is really 37, a bit young for VP--I just think they needed a minority and it is hard to find those in the Republican Party these days) and Crist, well, let's just say there have been some pretty prevalent rumors around Florida about him, ones which make me think this one is dead in the water.
As for Obama, no word yet on names, just that he is beginning the process. Although, I'd bet that the names Jim Webb, Ted Strickland, Kathleen Sebelius, Wes Clark, Bill Richardson and Brian Schweitzer come up a lot.

What reasons has Edwards given for his not being open to a Veepship?
I loathe Mitt Romney but he and McCain make a great pair of flipflops.
Plus Mitt and McCain also loathe each other, so the stress of each of them keeping their feet out of their mouths will be quite entertaining.
Obama/Schweitzer is a very attractive combination to me.
McCain/Romney? Jesus doesn’t love me that much. C’mon, that’d be the train wreck express.
(a) he’s being coy.
(b) his wife is still supporting Hillary
At this stage, his public protestations of lack of interest are meaningless.

I’m not so sure about Strickland. He’s really conservative in a lot of areas and also he has only been on the job for a little over a year so it would be seen as a betrayal. In fact there was some polling that showed he would HURT the ticket in Ohio.
I think Edwards will still be under consideration. Yes he says he has ruled it out but he is polling insanely well as VP and honestly why turn down a offer to be the second most powerful person in the world? He’s not going to have more influence in any other job.
If Edwards has indeed ruled it out my favorite is Sebelius. She blocked coal plants, vetoed Voter ID, blocked a merger of two big HMO’s, doesn’t take lobbyist money, anti-war.
She is probably from the most conservative state of the most often mentioned names but she is also the most progressive and has been that way before she hit the national stage.
He hasn’t really given any. Just not interested. But hasn’t ruled out AG…
I gotta tell you as an Ohioan, Strickland is perfect for parts like these. He is center-left on social issues (for example, did support a partial birth ban but pro-choice, and yes, that’s not perfect, but I am thinking about winning–he is also basically pro-gun).
And he is a full-throated economic populist which plays great here. He won by 25 points in the gov’s race and is hugely popular here now for passing a great budget with a GOP state leg (think Mark Warner). I think he’d make a great choice, perhaps my second choice after Jim Webb…but not decided completely yet.
Yeah, Schweitzer would be a fantastic choice. A top 5 as far as I am concerned…
