Does it bother anyone else that these people are making foreign policy decisions when they are clearly ignorant? This is from KFQD with conservative talk show host Dan Fagan:
We expect Al Qaeda to come out some time today with a new manifesto where they ought to be using weapons of mass destruction against the United States. That means that they're realizing they can't win in Iraq. I think they're going to change their way of doing business. And I think we have to be on the alert. These people are all over the world. Al Qaeda's not just in Iraq. They're in Iran. They're in the Philippines. Sen Inouye and I went down to [indistinguishable]. They're over in Indonesia. They're all over.
Ok Ted. Can we got over this one more time. There are Sunnis (Al Qaeda) and Shiites (Iran). They are at war in Iraq, as well as much of the rest of the Middle East and Far East. Think Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. I know it probably helps you to imagine Christianity and white people.

They’re even in the tooooobz…Ahaaaaaaaahhh
Poor man, he’s not well.
Cliff. Here’s something else, but you’ve probably already covered it somewhere…:
McCain is/was Chairman of the International Republican Institute:
http://www.iri.org/board.asp
Below is a snippet from a profile of IRI:
http://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/1481.html
“However, one relatively clear connection emerged between the U.S. government and the anti-Chávez movement: millions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer money channeled through the IRI and other U.S. organizations that funded groups opposed to Chávez during the years preceding the April coup. Writer Mike Ceaser reported that in an April 12, 2002, fax sent to news media, IRI President George A. Folsom rejoiced over Chávez’s removal from power. “The Venezuelan people rose up to defend democracy in their country,” he wrote. “Venezuelans were provoked into action as a result of systematic repression by the government of Hugo Chávez.” With NED funding, IRI had been sponsoring political party-building workshops and other anti-Chávez activities in Venezuela. “IRI evidently began opposing Chávez even before his 1998 election,”
Oh, and Otto Reich is involved…his Latin American advisor.
wow… twice in one day
Although Stevens is unbearably dense, this is also a standard rethug tactic… trying to and succeeding in confusing the illiterate portion of our country’s population by intentionally muddling the facts. The smartest rethugs do this to good effect… whether through associative repetition, media manipulation, sensory oversaturation, or just outright lying. They learned it from Orwell’s 1984, I suspect.
They’re UNDER MY BED!
We expect Al Qaeda to come out some time today
Uhm, could someone tell Ted they only have 10 more minutes for it to happen today in Baghdad?
And in Ted’s pants.
OT - sorry but it’s Plame related:
Wexler released a statement Wednesday calling for McClellan to tesitfy under oath before the Judiciary committee.
“The admissions made by Scott McClellan in his new book are earth-shattering and allege facts to establish that Karl Rove and Scooter Libby – and possibly Vice President Cheney - conspired to obstruct justice by lying about their role in the Plame Wilson matter and that the Bush Administration deliberately lied to the American people in order to take us to war in Iraq,” Wexler said. “Scott McClellan must now appear before the House Judiciary Committee under oath to tell Congress and the American people how President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby, and White House officials deliberately orchestrated a massive propaganda campaign to sell the war in Iraq to the American people.
“The allegations by this former top White House aide – that Rove and Libby deliberately coordinated their stories in order to obstruct justice in the Plame case, that the President deliberately disregarded contradictory evidence related to Iraq, should outrage every American and Congress must respond by initiating immediate aggressive oversight starting with an appearance by McClellan before the House Judiciary Committee,” he continued. “Any continued obstruction by this Administration to prevent White House officials from appearing before Congress cannot be tolerated by this Congress in the face of these shocking revelations.”

Wow, that’s some great
intelligencepropaganda you’ve got there Ted.I hope that Scott has more evidence than his own recollections re Scoots and Rove. that would be blockbuster. thanks for linkies.
Now c’mon TBogg … cut the guy some slack. Remember when Bush was still learning the difference between Sunnis and Shias and all that other hard stuff? Sure, that was July of 2004, but this shit takes time.
TBoggCliff, as I was saying …The site seems to be having some digestive problems…give it some aspirin.
I think Ted’s in the toobz, trying to stop the story.
maybe the war between the states will help the fogies? No. That would only confuse them more. Pathetic when senility is allowed air time, isn’t it?
how can people so effing stoopit have so much power?
bangs head on desk.
Why can’t we build a bridge to Al Qaedastan then cross it when we come to it and kill all the terrorists?

Ted let the GOP summer playbook out of the bag too early.

Home Depot must be selling a lot of shovels to Rethugs these days. They’ve got so many deep holes going they can’t keep track. Wonder if anybody told them they can’t dig their way out of a singularity.
These guys are stoopid- but not THAT stoopid.
They want to create ONE enemy who are the evil ones responsible for 9/11 and the ones we fight in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as in Iran if and when we begin the bombing.
They know that they can’t just declare war on Moslems- so it’s more convenient to declare war on Al Queda and then pretend that anyone we bomb IS Al Queda.
This is PARTICULARLY necessary in Iraq- (where there are reported to be no more than 1,000 members of “Al Queda in Iraq” in Iraq…
If the public realized that we were really just killin one side or the other in a civil war- well that wouldn’t go over so well…
No american wants americans to get killed to insure a shiite (or sunni) Iraq- but that’s really what it’s all about– so you can understand the reason to LIE- and that’s what it is—LYING- not makin stoopid mistakes.
Has Hillary started whining that she as bamboozled into voting for the war?
Jane spells it out for McCain followers.
Scott McClellan just told me that Al Qaeda is in Austin, but that the majority of the organization remains in Washington DC…
Proly at the Broken Spoke!
What? Before she told me “There Are Others to Choose From”! What gives?
I thought her position was that she voted to give limited and restricted authority and that the White House took it as a blank check and said “Bombs Away”..
This argument has the virtue of being objectivey TRUE- but of course it wasn’t the reason she voted “Aye”- she, Kerry, and Edwards all voted “Aye” cause they were afraid that the thing WOULD become a cakewalk (as Afghanistan appeared to be at the time) and they would become unelectable…It’s really as simple as that in my opinion.
yeah, they have photos of them, right next to the one of GWB - which I happily flipped off as I passed it that time I visited…
Was her position. . .right? She sees an opening she’ll take it.
I don’t know, I think the original Rexall Ranger, GW Bush would most certainly get tossed! I had a friend who once made the mistake of ordering a Perrier. The waitress immediately yelled “This lady wants a perreer water!” over all of the noise to the great delight of the crowd. I have to admit I thought it was quite funny, of course she failed to see the humor of it.
OK brain trust, I don’t see how this bullshit impacts Mc Cain’s “we are there now” song and dance.
Test
Mods…I’m getting that all “FDL” comments are closed. What’s going on?
Hey, he’s probably right! Al Qaeda probably is in Iran . . . attacking the Shiite dominated government, and the Shiite people of Iran generally. They’ve already been linked to a group called Jundullah which is doing just that, which you can read about here:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/thebl.....xclus.html
Of course, the Bush administration has been linked to the group, too.
On the other hand, if you really want to find out where Al Qaeda has its origins, just follow the bread crumbs:
