I can’t remember where but I saw something recently regarding the little publicized fact that Michael Chertoff has essentially been granted authority to suspend the Bill Of Rights at will. Since I think DHS has some role in RNC security, that might be relevant to what we a witnessing. Doubt if it would hold up to a serious legal challenge… unless McCain is allowed to appoint the next few SC justices.

Does anyone know what Amy and the person off-camera are saying after “we’re going to get you out of here” and “this is outrageous”? I still can’t get it clearly.

The report on the news just now was disturbing. They arranged everything that they took from the homes and put items together to make it look like there were homemade bombs and molitoff cocktails…And then showed video of someone making backyard explosives but did give a disclaimer that it was a “training” film. It was grossly misleading.

The video of the stormtroopers coming into the park and arresting folks sitting on the ground was the straw that broke…. I was just really angry up until then but wasn’t gonna compare them to LAPD, who’ve always been pigs. I was wrong. Same shit, different place.

Got them settled at a nice vacation rental home off a lake, Dad went and got his fishing gear and expects to have some fun. They started the demolition of the house and then will start the rebuilding. Insurance folks have been super nice….

Just so that everyone knows that there are good things that happen in this country…. the little town got together and threw a “Wedding Shower” for my parents….. approx 100 people showed up, potluck and tons of presents and gift cards…… Good thing I brought tissues because they were used…..

Thank you very much for the link to the mayor!!! I’m am so upset about all of this, and at least I can voice my concerns to someone where it will actually matter, if enough of us do the same. How can they not know who Amy Goodman is? They are keeping tabs on people, aren’t they? Well, this was a big mistake, a big, sad, depressingly terrible mistake.

Amy was en route to fetch her associates who were arrested previously. At least one was a swarthy type. Then lo and behold, the thugs busted her too. See, she tried to speak to the officers to explain. They had never seen her before because they only watch Der Fuehrer Network.

There were so many goons (Security Officers) on the street that it would be very likely that many would not recognize Amy Goodman. She was rather casually attired. Though she did have the top shelf press credentials, she said that the SS had ripped her off. It seems she may not have had the special floor clearance pass when she was manhandled by the goon squad that arrested her. In any case, there a lots of cops who watch only Cops!, O’Reilly, Hannity and Glen Beck (for culture).

Glad to see Amy out before the next news cycle, and hope the two remaining DN folks get out soon.
If the police were working with any level of basic and reliable intelligence, they would not be making the arrests that they are. They’ve just bought themselves at the very least negative international publicity and probably a few expensive lawsuits.

I do wish that DN would stop using the marching music in their two hour format for the conventions. The music is driving me nuts.

We should flood their office with faxes telling them to let Nicole Salazar and Sharif Abdel Kouddous go without charge (Amy Goodman was released earlier). Also tell them that they should stop the heavy-handed police tactics and start respecting free speech and freedom of the press.

Amy Goodman is my hero and I am outraged at her treatment at the hands of the police. If she can be arrested for, as far as I can tell, simply asking questions and demanding answers, what hope do any of us have for true freedom of speech?
